Admission Arrangements

Walton Hall Academy is a special secondary school for students aged from 11 to 19 years.

Our students have a wide and varied range of learning needs. All students who attend our academy must have an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP).

Walton Hall Academy is located in a rural environment on the outskirts of Eccleshall, Staffordshire.  We are a specialist provision for students with a wide range of difficulties and disabilities for whom a mainstream school is not suitable.

The number of high needs places we offer is agreed annually with the Local Authority. This can vary slightly year on year depending on our capacity to meet the needs of our complex population.  We can occasionally consider requests for places from the Local Authority throughout the year if a place becomes available. We are often planning the school admissions a year ahead.

If you think Walton Hall Academy may be the school that could meet the needs of your child, you need to speak to your child's SEND Key Worker (please click here for SEND Key Worker contact details).  You are able to contact us for an initial informal discussion. The school contact number is 01785 850420 or you can contact the school by email office.wh@walton.set.org.

We cannot admit any child without following the formal consultation process. This involves communication with your child's SEND Key Worker at the Local Authority, or through an EHC annual review at your child's current school in the first instance.  The Local Authority SEND team and the current school would be able to discuss all schools that may be able to meet the needs of your child. Once you have confirmed your preference, the Local Authority would then send out formal consultation papers to us for review and to decide whether we are able to meet your child's special educational needs and offer a place.

Please check our admissions policy.
