What do we do?

At Walton Hall Academy we provide a comprehensive personal development programme that ensures every student is nurtured and supported to grow in knowledge, skills and personal attributes that will enable them to flourish in their adulthood.  Our curriculum emphasises not only academic knowledge but life skills, communication, resilience, independence and community contribution. We embed opportunities for personal growth, social and emotional development, preparation for adulthood, careers education, citizenship, equality and diversity through our school ethos, values and curriculum.

How do we do it?

  • Aspects of personal development are considered in all lessons we deliver. When planning for all lessons, teachers’ pay particular attention to providing opportunities for personal development.
  • Strands of personal development are embedded into all aspects of school life – our school ethos, our school rules, our timetabled lessons, and our extensive learning outside of the classroom opportunities.

Why do we do it?

We believe that every student has potential and deserves the opportunity to leave school fully prepared for the next steps. We want our learners to understand the world that they live in, be of strong character and be ready to contribute positively to society in whatever way they can.
We recognise that our student’s success is not only measured by academic achievement, but by the personal attributes, life skills and readiness for adulthood that they carry forward. By providing many opportunities throughout the curriculum for personal development we aim to support the holistic growth of our students so that they can flourish in their lives.
