What do we do?

At Walton Hall Academy, our ethos of Nurture, Grow, Flourish informs every aspect of measuring progress and assessment. We recognise that progress is personal and holistic, encompassing academic achievement, social development, communication, independence, and emotional wellbeing. Assessment is used as a positive and inclusive tool to celebrate individual growth, identify next steps, and ensure that every learner’s unique journey is valued. Underpinned by each individual EHCP, through a combination of formative and summative assessment, evidence gathered on platforms such as Evidence for Learning and SOLAR, and ongoing collaboration between staff, students, outside agencies and families, we ensure that progress reflects the whole person and informs next steps.

How do we do it?

Why do we do it?

Every learner receives the right support at the right time. Our approach enables us to identify each student’s strengths, needs and barriers to learning through careful assessment, then use this understanding to plan meaningful, individualised strategies and interventions. This continuous, reflective process ensures that provision remains responsive, evidence-informed, and centred on enabling every learner to flourish both academically and personally.
